Are you getting ready for this holiday season and looking forward to spending time with your loved ones? The hustle and bustle of buying gifts, attending parties, and spreading holiday cheer can keep you quite busy. It’s hard to get a quiet moment with the holidaze craze!
When you’re wrapping gifts or sitting by the fire, take a moment to pause on the many animals in shelters and consider how you can make a difference in their life. Not all of them will have the benefit of being in a home this holiday season. Whether we celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, there is a common theme of spreading joy, love, and compassion to those around us. Together, how can we spread a little joy to those furry dogs and cats living in shelters?
Here are some ways you can help animals in shelters this holiday season:
· Donate cleaning supplies
· Volunteer
· Foster
· Donate household items like paper towels, bath towels, or blankets
· Donate gift cards for gas, pet stores, Target, Walmart, etc.
· Certain vendors will donate a % of their sales to the shelters
· Check shelter websites for their specific wishlists or call them to find out what they need
The holiday season is about spending time with our loved ones, which includes pets within our homes or in the local shelters. Whether you choose to celebrate with gift-giving, acts of kindness, or donating your time, there are various ways you can give back to support your local shelter.
